What about vehicle shipping?

Recently we had the pleasure of shipping a vehicle for a famous football player from Qatar to France.

The client was very happy with the service, and requested that we remind everyone that we do ship vehicles worldwide.

Shipping vehicles from one place to another can be a complicated process, especially when it involves different countries and continents. With a wide variety of regulations to consider, vehicle shipping requires knowledge and experience of international transportation laws and customs declarations.

As the world continues to become more globalized, understanding the regulations for vehicle shipping between different countries has become increasingly important. This article will explore the legal requirements for international vehicle shipping in order to help people better understand the process. We will also discuss best practices for ensuring a safe and successful delivery of your car or motorcycle  around the world.

Before shipping your car there are a list of key documents that might apply to your situation:

  • Photo ID
  • Vehicle registration
  • Proof of insurance
  • Notarized bill of sale
  • Certificate of title for the car, plus two copies
  • Duly completed and notarized export power of attorney
  • If there’s a lien on your vehicle, you will require an official letter from the lien holder, with car model, year of manufacture, and VIN, permitting you to take the car overseas

Of course, there can be other documents requested depending on your specific case, but we will be able to guide you thoroughly in the process.

When it comes to best practices we can discuss for hours, but we gathered 5 essential tips for you  that we think will help you:

  1. Do your research – always talk to at least 3 providers and compare the offers
  2. Always choose a reliable and certified company for shipping
  3. Prepare your car – remove all loose items inside the car, wash the car inside and outside, take pictures for your future records mainly to document any damages, empty the gas tank and keep a set of spare keys in your possession
  4.  Get everything in writing – from quotation to signing the contact and always remember to ask for a countersigned copy.
  5. Get insurance – do not agree to ship without having your goods insured. Don’t rely on luck, accidents can always happen. Your shipping provider can offer you in most of the cases the adequate marine insurance for your peace of mind

Good luck!
